Three days on Elrora, hour by hour

Two times on this route never move: check-in on board between 10:00 and 10:30 on day one, and check-out between 11:00 and 11:30 on day three. What happens in between follows the weather, the tide and the captain's call that day.

The outline itself does not change. Day one holds Kelor, a snorkel stop at Manjarite and Kalong at dusk. Day two takes in Padar, Pink Beach, the dragon walk on Komodo, then the reefs of Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Day three holds one last snorkel stop and the way back. Both nights pass on board, at anchorages the captain selects with the weather in mind.

Below, each day is written in the order you live it. A clock time appears only where the time is fixed; everywhere else we give you the sequence.

These stops swap order with tide and wind: Manta Point ⇄ Taka Makassar.

Times are operating patterns, not a timetable. Check-in and check-out are the only times we hold ourselves to.

Morning one: pier, Kelor, snorkel, Kalong dusk

You board between 10:00 and 10:30, find your cabin and meet the crew. The boat leaves the pier and sails for Kelor; the captain sets the timing on the day. As Labuan Bajo drops behind, find a seat on the upper deck with a coffee or a pot of tea, both included, and let the first hour pass slowly. Kelor's climb is short and steep: shoes with grip, a hat, a bottle of water.

After the climb comes a snorkel stop at Manjarite, where the snorkelling gear and the life vests are already on board. Then the boat moves toward Kalong. Sunset at Kalong is 18:01 in November and 17:57 in July; shortly after it, the flying foxes rise out of the mangroves, and the deck is the best seat for it.

Dinner is served on board. Where Elrora spends the night is the captain's choice, made according to the weather.

Morning two begins on Padar before the heat arrives

Day two starts in the dark. You go ashore before sunrise and walk up to the Padar ridge, where three bays open below you. On a November morning the sun appears at 05:31; in July, at 06:18. By the time it is hot, you are back on board and breakfast is ready.

The rest of the day is shared by Pink Beach, the Komodo Island walk, Taka Makassar and Manta Point. A park ranger guides the walk to the dragons on Komodo Island. Tide and current set the sequence of the reef stops.

Advisor's note. The path up Padar is loose and steep in parts, so wear shoes with a firm sole, not sandals. Whoever would rather skip the climb can stay aboard.

The last morning, and the pier again

The third day has one more snorkel stop, chosen by the captain between Sebayur and Kanawa. Both are shallow, calm reefs, a gentle last swim after three days of climbing and snorkelling. Then Elrora heads back to Labuan Bajo; you are at the pier at 11:00 and check out between 11:00 and 11:30.

Book flights that leave after 14:00, and fill the gap with lunch in town or a rest at a hotel. Pack before the boat docks, because check-out is quick. The seat fares below are for open trips on set dates; the whole-boat price for a private charter on the same route is on request.

Park tickets are paid on top of any fare, whichever way you book. Bring cash for small expenses in town.

The three-day sum: a cabin seat against the whole boat

Seats are sold per person. A couple in a Deluxe cabin pay two seats at IDR 9,750,000; in the Master cabin, two seats at IDR 11,500,000. These are the seat fares on the sailing schedule.

The whole boat carries no printed price, since it depends on your date and your party. We quote it in writing and you confirm it before paying.

With a cabin seat you share the deck and the stops with other guests. Take the whole boat and nobody else is aboard; the pace is agreed between you and the captain. Undecided? Ask for both quotes.

Whole-boat private charter · On request

Worked examples for two, four and six

Two guests. A couple in a Superior cabin pay two seats at IDR 7,500,000. A sailing goes ahead once three cabins are booked, so their date depends on other guests.

Four guests. A family of four in the Family cabin pay four seats at IDR 6,500,000. Two Deluxe cabins for two couples cost four seats at IDR 9,750,000, and give each couple a separate room.

Six guests. Three couples can take the Master, a Deluxe and a Superior cabin: two seats at IDR 11,500,000, two at IDR 9,750,000 and two at IDR 7,500,000. Three cabins meet the minimum by themselves, so the date is secure from the moment the deposit is in.

FAQ

How many days should I plan for Komodo?

Plan three days and two nights. That is Elrora's core route, and it fits Padar at sunrise, Komodo Island and Manta Point with two nights on board. Two days leave out the dragons; four days slow the pace. Fix your dates first, then choose cabins.

What do three days on Elrora hold?

Kelor, a snorkel stop at Manjarite and Kalong at dusk on the first day. Padar, Pink Beach, the Komodo Island walk, Taka Makassar and Manta Point on the second. One last snorkel stop on the third, then the pier at 11:00. The order shifts with weather, tide and the captain's decision.

How long is the sail from Labuan Bajo to Komodo Island?

Kelor is the first stop, and the captain sets the sailing time on the day. Komodo Island comes on the second day, after a night on board, and the sailing time depends on the stop order, the weather and the captain. We print no single sailing time for it, because the route is built one stop after another.
