Paying for a charter, and reading the quote line by line

Updated 2 November 2026

To read a private phinisi charter price in Komodo, look for five things: the nights, the cabins, what is included, what is excluded and the payment dates. An Elrora Liveaboard cabin seat is from IDR 6,500,000; the whole boat is quoted in writing. Park tickets, such as IDR 250,000, are separate.

Ask for the quote

What a charter quote is made of

Our quote names the date and the number of nights, and lists the cabins in use with the cabin plan. It states the inclusions, the exclusions, the deposit and the balance date. It also carries the replacement-boat promise. If any line is missing, ask for it: a quote without all of them is not ready to be paid.

The whole-boat price itself is on request. We do not publish a figure in advance because it depends on the date and on the length of the trip. When you have the quote in writing, nothing in it changes unless you agree.

Check that the invoice is made out to the right name, in rupiah, and that the dates match your flights.

Fare per seat in each of the four kinds of cabin

Open-trip seats have printed fares, per person, for 3D2N with two sharing a cabin. The Master seat is IDR 11,500,000. A Deluxe seat is IDR 9,750,000. A Superior seat is IDR 7,500,000. The Family cabin is sold to four guests at IDR 6,500,000 per person.

To read a seat sum, multiply the fare by the number of guests in the cabin, and add the same for each further cabin. A couple in a Deluxe cabin pay two seats at IDR 9,750,000. A family of four in the Family cabin pay four seats at IDR 6,500,000.

A sailing runs once three cabins are booked. If it does not reach three, we say so in writing.

Charges that arrive separately

Some costs never appear in a fare. Park tickets are paid on top. Drinks other than water, coffee and tea are extra, and so are crew tips, flights and travel insurance. Neither a guide nor photo or video coverage is part of a private charter; each can be added on request and priced on its own line.

Payment methods carry their own charges. The fee for a card payment link appears on the invoice. PayPal adds 7.2%. A bank transfer in rupiah carries the charges of your own bank. Wise and Revolut have their own fees, which you see before you send.

Komodo National Park package per guest: 3D2N: IDR 650,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest; 4D3N: IDR 750,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest. It includes the government entrance ticket, the ranger fee and local levies.

Park tickets: how much, and paid how

Foreign visitors pay IDR 250,000 a day, per person, for the entry ticket. It covers the trek, wildlife viewing and snorkelling. Indonesian citizens pay IDR 50,000 on weekdays; at weekends and public holidays the ticket costs IDR 75,000. A multi-day trip pays for each day inside the park.

The tariff follows PP 36/2024. A higher foreign fee has been studied by the authorities, but no new amount has been announced, so check the figure before you book. KEXI's park package covers the government entrance ticket (PP 36/2024), the ranger and the local levies, paid on top of the boat price unless your quote says it is included.

Advisor's note. We give the amount for your party in the quote and tell you how it is settled. There is no separate ranger or levy bill: the park package covers both.

Moving money from CNY, HKD or TWD to a rupiah invoice

Our invoices are in rupiah. We do not set exchange rates, and we do not print a conversion in yuan, Hong Kong dollars or Taiwan dollars, because the rate moves every day. Ask your bank or card issuer for the rate and the fees before you pay.

If you pay by card link, the card issuer converts the amount. Decline any offer from a card terminal to convert the amount for you, and compare your own bank's rate instead. If you use Wise or Revolut, you choose the sending currency and see the rate before you confirm. If you send a bank transfer, send the full invoice amount so that it arrives complete.

Tell us the method and the day you will pay, and we look out for it. A screenshot of the confirmation helps too; it saves a day when a transfer passes through several banks.

Tips, extras and the written confirmation

Tips are appreciated and not compulsory. We set no figure for them: the amount is yours to decide, given in cash to the crew together at the end of the trip. Park rangers and walking guides receive their own tips.

Extras, such as a pickup upgrade, a dinner on a beach or a photographer, are quoted before anything is added. Nothing is charged without a written quote that you accept.

When the deposit is paid, you receive a written confirmation with the date, the cabins, the check-in time and the terms. Keep it with your passport. It is the document the harbour and our team both use.

FAQ

How much is a Komodo National Park ticket?

The foreign-visitor ticket is IDR 250,000 per person per day, covering the trek, wildlife viewing and snorkelling. A weekday visit costs Indonesian citizens IDR 50,000, and a weekend or public-holiday visit costs IDR 75,000. On a trip of several days you pay for each day spent inside the park, and the ticket never forms part of a fare.

What is the park charge that people keep mentioning?

It is the park entry tariff set under PP 36/2024, paid per person per day. A higher foreign fee has been studied, but no new amount is announced. Ranger fees and local levies sit in the park package, not on a bill of their own.

Do I pay the park fees in cash?

We tell you in the quote how the park tickets are settled for your date. Ranger and local levies belong to the same park package. Neither the park nor its islands have a cash machine, so withdraw in Labuan Bajo before you board.

About how much does a stay on a Komodo boat cost?

On Elrora an open-trip seat is printed, from IDR 6,500,000 per person for 3D2N, with the Master seat at IDR 11,500,000. The whole boat is quoted in writing for your date. Add park tickets, drinks that are not water, coffee or tea, crew tips, flights and insurance.

What will a Komodo trip cost me altogether?

Add the fare to the park tickets, your flights, a hotel night before sailing, drinks, tips and insurance. The fare for a cabin seat is printed. The whole boat is quoted in writing. We list every line in the quote so that the total is clear before you pay.

How much does a trip to Komodo Island cost?

A visit to Komodo Island is part of the 3D2N route, so its cost sits inside the fare, apart from the park ticket and the ranger fee, which are paid separately. A seat starts at IDR 6,500,000 per person. We give the park and ranger amounts for your party in the quote.

How much should I tip the crew on a Komodo boat?

Tips are appreciated and not compulsory, and we set no figure for them. The amount is yours to decide, given in cash to the crew together at the end of the trip. Rangers and walking guides receive their own tips separately.

How much does a phinisi charter cost?

The whole boat is on request for Elrora, because the price depends on the date and the length of the trip. We quote it in writing and confirm it before you pay. If one cabin suits you, open-trip seats are printed from IDR 6,500,000 per person.
